In ‘Child’s Play’ (2026), Van Wolputte presents a new series of works in which the artist focuses on an unexpected place in the city: the playground, the illegitimate child of architecture and urban planning. Familiar forms are transformed into alienating designs that balance between dystopia and utopia.
The exhibition takes you on a journey through the Expo Hall, inspired by locations that the artist encountered during his urban walks and that left a deep impression on him. The public puts itself in the shoes of an urban explorer and decides how much perseverance it has to complete the exhibition and discover everything. In doing so, Van Wolputte questions whether there is still room for freedom and self-examination, or are we increasingly allowing ourselves to be led from above?
