UITSTALLING
UITSTALLING will present three young and upcoming artists of the gallery. Aaron-Victor Peeters (b. 1994) will show several mixed media works as well as his video installation “The Love Seat” (2021). Peeters’ oeuvre is a kaleidoscopic universe which displays his interest in technology, progress, history, stories, culture and spirituality. “The Love Seat” reveals his fascination for the car: a status symbol, personal living space, design object – but soon an artifact of the past. Sthenjwa Luthuli (b. 1991) celebrates his Zulu heritage and spiritual self while referencing the ongoing struggles that racialized groups face in post-apartheid South Africa. His wooden reliefs and woodcut prints display an abstract territory between the spiritual and physical worlds. Elia Vanderheyden (b. 2000) will present a series of works that, inspired by climate change, romanticism and escapism, are situated in a new era, a reality in which man is not present and nature has taken over. The artist uses both wood cuts, laser cuts and artificial intelligence to create works that trigger reflection on the current state of affairs and simultaneously show his visions of the future.
