Hopstreet will present a group show with four artists of the gallery. Mona Ardeleanu creates her paintings by adding layer by layer of patterns and colours, resulting in images of invented objects with a mysterious, intangible quality. Jonathan Callan works with second-hand books, text, maps and photographs. In his work he tries to reconcile his deep interest in materiality with the immense reality of literary history. Julie Cockburn sources second-hand photographs and transforms them by adding embroidery, collage and screen printing. Fabrice Souvereyns fanatically fills his drawings with figures, plants, clouds and waves. Botanical gardens as well as textile patterns or carpets serve as inspiration.
