Galerie 8+4
13 rue d’Alexandrie
75002 Paris

Galerie 8+4 will present rare, exceptional and new works by four artists: Claude Parent, Lionel Sabatté, Claire Trotignon and Javier Perez. Recognised as one of the most innovative architectural theorists of the 1970s-2000s, Claude Parent was both an artist, a theorist and an architect. Galerie 8+4 will present several exceptional sets of drawings and inks from the years 2000-2010, all of which have remained in the private collection of the estate. Lionel Sabatté is taking on the field of tapestry with the aim of deconstructing its codes. Working with a variety of materials ranging from cotton to paper, he has imagined a tapestry that has become like a skin by choosing to work on the reverse side of the textile. Claire Trotignon composes collages of fragments of 19th-century engravings and early colour magazines which form landscapes populated by scattered bits of architecture. In her work, the traditional perspectival point of view gives way to new space-time, allowing the past to collide with projections into the future. For Javier Perez, drawing, sculpture, even performance and video, serve to explore the human body and mind in a language full of symbolism. In the series he has composed specifically for the gallery, he takes his inspiration from undergrowth photographed at dusk, when the shapes dissolve in the darkness.
