Lumen Travo will present the work of Atousa Bandeh (b. 1968) and Dianne Hagen (b. 1964). Despite their distinct styles and techniques, both artists share a common vision, using surrealism to explore their existence and the passage of time. Iranian artist Atousa Bandeh will present a new series of self-portrait collages which offer an introspective exploration of her journey through life. The works are full of references to ancient symbolism and reflect the artist’s inner and outer world. The new paintings and drawings by Dianne Hagen evoke emotions of longing, desire, judgment, power and love. An empty bed, a thin curtain — all the elements together create poetic compositions that seem suspended in a distant dimension. Reminiscent of Hilma af Klint and the symbolic abstract movement, Hagen’s kaleidoscopic patterns energetically envelop the viewer, opening gateways to a spiritual state of waiting — a delicate yet powerful realm where, potentially, anything can happen.
